  • Understanding the working of stairlifts – Helping you Use It Carefully:

Are you curious to know how a stairlift works? Do you want to know every bit of it before you call an expert to install it? Well, we’ve got you covered.

Take a look at how a compact standing stair lift works – explained it just for you!

Step 1: Once it has been setup, you need to decide whether to go upstairs ( on the first floor or up in the attic) or downstairs ( it can even be in the basement ).

Example:

If you want to go up to your son’s bedroom from the ground floor – move towards step 2 given below.

Step 2: Stand on the stair-lift and place your feet on the footrest.

Pro-tip:

In case it is a sitting stair-lift, sit on the chair comfortably.

Step 3: Fasten the belt to move safely.

Note:

If it does not have one, ask your service provider to attach it for safety purposes.

Step 4: Click on the remote to move the stairlift upwards. If it does not have a remote, look for an up or down moving button.

Step 5: Once it is moving upwards, stay fastened until it reaches the first floor.

Step 6: When reached, wait for it to stop. If you jump from a moving stairlift, you may get an injury. Therefore, we recommend you follow the safety instructions.

Step 7: When you have reached the first floor in this case, un-fasten your seatbelt and carefully step out of the stairlift.

Boom! You just defeated immobility and the fear of not being able to move up or downstairs!

Why do you need to consider standing stairlifts rather than using grabbing handrails?

Does the question of simply using handrails to go up or down instead of installing a stairlift often tick in your mind? Does the former seem an inexpensive and feasible option? Do you want it to be a substitute for stairlifts?

Well, this is not the case because we want Britishers to live a sustainable life! How does that connect? Let us explain.

Suppose you want to go to the basement to get some flour for a pizza party in the evening. However, your hip pain makes you unable to use the stairs. To worsen the situation, you are in a post-surgery situation or are in your 70s. Unfortunately, you have to grab rails and go down because you do not have a stairlift installed. Although you managed to get the flour but had to encounter  2-3 falls and severe pain in your back.

What do you think? Is health on your priority list or saving a few pounds? I hope you got the answer!

Just to give you a bird’s eye view, have a look at what a stairlift would’ve offered in the aforementioned case. Have a glance at the table:
